WAY-FM offers college students a variety of opportunities to develop skills and apply their education in an encouraging environment. Interns can gain experience in Non-Profit Development, Radio Production, Promotions, and Engineering.

Internships are generally unpaid and must be for college credit. Age requirements are determined by the individual stations depending on the internship track.

WAY-FM offers the following internships:

Production Internship
As a Production Intern, you will assist the Production Director in all aspects of production such as producing Impact Partner announcements, concert promos, etc., and when necessary, sharing the work with affiliates and other WAY-FM owned and operated stations.  You will get a chance to observe air talent on the air and at various station events.  To apply, you need to be currently studying Broadcasting, Radio & Television, Commercial Music, or some other related field.  Experience working with digital editing software is helpful.  Basic computer skills are a must.  This internship requires a minimum 20-hour-a-week commitment.

Programming Internship
As a Programming Intern, you will assist the Nighttime Host.  This is an opportunity to assist in all aspects of the production and running of WAY-FM’s nationally broadcasted nighttime program.   This is an entry level internship, so no experience is necessary; we’ll train you!  However, a great attitude and an outgoing personality are required to establish relationships with the artist/music industry.  You bring the outgoing personality; we’ll teach you the rest!  This internship requires a minimum 20-hour-a-week commitment.

Promotions Internship

As a Promotions Intern, you will assist the Operations Director by helping coordinate WAY-FM events, concerts, and promotions, distributing WAY-FM event materials throughout middle Tennessee to churches, bookstores, schools, and businesses, and helping with other miscellaneous assignments as needed.  A good attitude, honesty, trustworthiness, dependability, flexibility, and willingness to follow directions are required, however, experience isn’t.  We will train you!  This internship requires a minimum 15-hour-a-week commitment and some travel for events and material distribution.  A flexible schedule is a must since afternoons will be needed as well as some evenings and weekends.

Engineering Internship

The Engineering Intern assists the Chief Engineer in the Engineering Department doing daily office-related tasks including wiring and equipment documentation organizing, filing logs, and helping with other miscellaneous office projects as well as assisting in tool and parts organization.  Some light computer support on software, hardware, and networking fields will be required as well.

Non-Profit Development and Administration Internship
The Non-Profit Development and Administration Internship is designed to help the student gain experience in and understanding of the underwriting and sales role through participating in sales calls, business relationship building, business underwriting, scheduling, and various VIP and concert events. The intern will work on the underwriting and sales side of the ministry/radio station while still learning how the position relates to and works with the Programming, Production, and Promotions departments.
